What is Acne?

Acne is an inflammatory condition of the sebaceous (or oily) glands of the skin that lead to the production of pimples. Acne most commonly affects the face, neck, chest, shoulders, and upper back which have a high concentration of sebaceous follicles. Blackheads and whiteheads (technically known as open and closed comedones, respectively) develop when the follicles become clogged and inflamed. When pimples become badly inflamed, they can become painful cysts. These cysts are located deep in the skin and can lead to acne scarring. It is highly recommended to have one of our experts extract blackheads, whitehead and or pimples as self-extraction can cause ruptures in the skin site leading to further scarring.

How is acne treated?

At Auveau, we use therapies customized to each patient’s needs, based on skin type and severity of your acne. Your particular acne may be treated with one or more Auveau treatments listed below:

AviClear was developed to redefine the treatment of stubborn acne with three quick treatments. AviClear treats acne at the source by selectively targeting and suppressing the sebaceous gland safely and effectively.

HydraFacial is a non-invasive skincare procedure that’s widely recognized as a safe and effective way to combat acne. It uses a patented Vortex technology and unique tip to rid the skin of acne-causing and pore-clogging agents, while also diminishing hyperpigmentation and scarring
Chemical Peels are formulated with an acidic gel made up of naturally occurring acids such as alphahydroxy acid (AHA), beta hydroxy acid (BHA), glycolic or salicylic acid combined with other skincare ingredients. Chemical peels are often used in combination with micro-needling in order to resurface and improve the health of the skin.
PhotoFacial is a very powerful and precise light-based treatment that can be used to both target acne causing bacteria, and redness resulting from acne scarring. The light energy delivered by Photofacial will target redness and brown spots by gently heating the upper layers of the skin.

SkinPen Microneedling is a minimally invasive skin rejuvenation procedure, also known as collagen induction therapy and percutaneous collagen injection. Using precise needles, the device stimulates the replacement of surface skin cells, revealing young, glowing skin underneath.
