Hydrafacial - Auveau

What is a hydrafacial?

The Hydrafacial is one of the most popular in-office facial treatments right now. So popular that one is performed every 15 seconds around the world.  A HydraFacial is a medical-grade, hydra-dermabrasion treatment that uses patented technology to cleanse, extract, and hydrate skin.

It’s all made possible thanks to a double-helix vortex treatment wand. One chamber of the wand draws dead skin cells and dirt from the skin while the other pumps the skin full of soothing nutrients (hyaluronic acid, vitamin C, and growth factors).

HydraFacial treatments at Auveau can also include features such as:

  • LED light therapy
  • Medical-grade boosters (Dermabuilder, Britenol, Protec Plus etc.)
  • Lymphatic Drainage

How does a hydrafacial work?

The HydraFacial device uses three actions that contribute to the resurfacing of the skin; physical exfoliation from water pressure and a textured tip, chemical exfoliation from acids such as glycolic and salicylic, and suction to lift dead skin cells off the surface.

A basic treatment starts with a water-based solution being blasted onto the skin to break up the topmost layer of dead skin cells. Using the spiral suction tip of the HydraFacial device, the dead skin cells and surface debris are lifted away, providing a gentler method of extraction. Next, a chemical peel solution is delivered in the same way, increasing the depth of exfoliation. The final steps involve the same pressurized delivery of treatment serums customized to the needs of the skin. Because all steps are delivered in a hydrating, water-based solution, the HydraFacial delivers an impressive amount of plumping hydration to the skin when compared to a more traditional microdermabrasion treatment.

Who is a good candidate for hydrafacial treatment?

HydraFacials can be performed on all skin types, including very sensitive skin. What is unique about this treatment is that it is highly customizable. Your skincare professional will work with you to understand your unique skin concerns, and will recommend a personalized treatment for you. It should be noted, however, that the HydraFacial is on the gentler side of the facial treatment spectrum. Clients requiring deeper resurfacing may achieve greater results from more intense treatments such as medical grade peels or laser treatments.

What will I experience during a hydrafacial?

The HydraFacial follows the same steps of a basic medical facial: cleansing and exfoliation, chemical peel, extractions, and infusion of serums. All four steps are administered through various attachments on the HydraFacial device. The suction and movement of the device boosts lymphatic drainage and improves circulation in the skin. These non-invasive treatments are painless and are generally offered in 30, 60, and 90 minute sessions, making them easy to work into any schedule. After a HydraFacial treatment, you will notice immediate results. Skin will feel smoother, softer, and more hydrated as a result of the exfoliating acids and hydrating ingredients used. You may also notice a slight reduction in puffiness due to the lymphatic drainage. The use of nutrient-rich serums may also temporarily plump up fine lines and wrinkles, lessening their appearance.

How long is the downtime after a hydrafacial?

Aside from chemical peels, which can cause slight redness and flakiness for several days, most facial services at Auveau have little-to-no downtime. After a HydraFacial, for instance, you might notice that your skin seems a little flushed for a few hours. This is just due to the increase in blood flow to the area — it’s a good thing!

No matter which type of facial treatment you have at Auveau, you can expect a fresh new glow before you leave the medical spa. Because your newly improved skin may be a little more sensitive to sunlight than normal, your facial practitioner applies a broad-spectrum sunscreen before you head out for the day.

Auveau also boasts a wide selection of PCA Skin and SkinCeuticals products. Chrissy and the team spend time showing you which products you can use at home to help your facial results last as long as possible.
