Kybella is an FDA-approved injectable treatment that permanently destroys fat cells beneath the chin, an area known as the submental region. The active ingredient is a synthetic form of deoxycholic acid, a molecule that occurs naturally in the body and plays a role in breaking down and absorbing dietary fat.
When injected into targeted fat deposits under the chin, Kybella disrupts the fat cell membrane, causing permanent destruction. The body then clears the destroyed cells through its natural metabolic process. Once those cells are gone, they cannot store or accumulate fat again, which is why Kybella results are considered permanent.
How Kybella Works
