Sculptra - Auveau
Sculptra dermal injections
Sculptra Aesthetic is an FDA-approved injectable that helps gradually replace lost collagen—the most common protein in the body that is used to form a framework to support cell and tissue—for results that can last more than two years
How does Sculptra work?
Sculptra works differently from other dermal fillers. This treatment is considered more of a volumizer than wrinkle filler. Sculptra® Aesthetic makes use of a different chemical called the poly-L-lactic acid, which helps to stimulate collagen production in the skin.
Sculptra, also known as the “liquid facelift”, works by both filling in lines and wrinkles and by stimulating the body to produce new collagen and underlying tissue, thereby creating a fuller, more youthful appearance.
How is a sculptra procedure performed?
During the Sculptra procedure, a patient is numbed with topical numbing cream and given a series of injections in the desired area. The material used in Sculptra®, poly-L-lactic acid – a synthetic version of the substance that is naturally produced by muscles during exercise, has been used in plastic and reconstructive surgery for more than 20 years.
Which areas are treated with sculptra?
What to expect after Sculptra
Most people can return to their normal activities immediately after Sculptra injections. Swelling, bruising, and other side effects are usually mild and subside within a few days. Doing the following will help speed along your recovery:
- Apply a cold pack to the affected area for a few minutes at a time within the first 24 hours.
- Following treatment, massage the area for five minutes at a time, five times a day, for five days.
- Avoid excessive sunlight or tanning beds until any redness and swelling has resolved.
Results are gradual, and it may take a few weeks to see the full effects of Sculptra. Results last up to two years.
